The goal of Maya's classes is to strengthen the body and to foster an environment of peace and calm for the mind & spirit. It is most of all a place where one can feel relaxed and not intimidated by their illness. Here they are given hope and possisbility for taking control of their health and well being. Along with teaching tai chi classes Maya uses Qi Gong Meridian Therapy . Qi Gong Meridian Therapy is a form of bodywork which uses light and deep pressure points along with sending (chi) healing energy to the meridian system. It is similar to acupuncture without the needles. It is especially helpful for chronic disease and pain. Maya is also an instructor for the Oriental Healing Arts Association which is certified by the Arthritis Foundation featuring Dr. Lam's Qi Gong for Seniors. We'd love to have you join us for the "Health of It".

Qi Gong Classes for Seniors as seen on PBS television.
Maya has been teaching seniors for many years at retirement homes in NH, Maine & Massachusetts. This particular routine is very adaptable for those who can only stand or sit and it is very helpful to increase circulation, strength, and balance for the elderly. Maya has been a teacher with Oriental Healing Arts Association and also has her own private practice and she is Certified and Qualified with the Association and the Arthritis Foundation to teach this special format to seniors.

My name is Leslie R. and I began Tai chi with Maya when I was looking to increase my strength and flexibility after having two back surgeries. When I began classes I was very stiff and barely could move past my knees. After a few months I was able to touch my toes! I am an avid skier and horesback rider and I am now able to do these activities without fear of injuring myself again. I also had a Giant Cell Granuloma in my jaw which was disintegrating the bone in my jaw and had to be surgically removed. Maya did focused Qi Gong Therapy on it and when the surgery was done the doctor was surprised at how much it had shrunk. Something he said was impossible.

Hi my name is Donna L. and I spent two years with severe cramping, vomiting, headaches and other physical problems. I was constantly out of work, and missed friends weddings and other social engagements. I had a hysterectomy in 2001 and the chemistry change and immune system change truly affected my balance. I experienced vertigo and sinus infections so I was on so many medications it was debilitating. I became very depressed and anxious, so now more medications. To make a long story short, I started classes and therapies with Maya, and about 6 months later I felt better. Now one year later I am back at work full time, and best of all no more meds!

Hi my name is Jim B. and I came to Maya when I was diagnosed with Hepatitis C. I had been on Interfuron for a year and my doctor gave me little hope for survival. Maya with her care and concern for my well being started me on a new diet along with her therapies and tai chi classes. I am now 4 years later going back to college in California and also teaching golf to teens.I am totally healthy.

Hi my name is Jim G. and I injured my hip in 1994 when a piano I was moving dropped on me. I saw a chiropractor every week for a few months but it really didn't help in the long run. The only option the doctors gave me was a hip replacement. So I read about tai chi and decided to give it a try. After two years of therapy and classes, I have been able to walk without pain. My back is much improved and I now can work building houses. My job before tai chi was delivering pizzas.
